Interview: LBH Founder

On Skin Function, Restraint, and Building a Practice Rooted in Long-Term Stability

The approach behind LBH is not based on trends or rapid outcomes. It is built on observation—how skin behaves over time, how it responds to cumulative inputs, and how often disruption is mistaken for progress.

This perspective has been shaped through clinical practice, where patterns emerge more clearly than isolated results.

On how the approach developed

The work did not begin with products. It began with patterns.

Over time, it became clear that many skin concerns shared a common thread—not a lack of intervention, but an excess of it. Skin that appeared reactive, congested, or inconsistent was often operating under continuous stimulation.

The shift was not toward doing more, but toward understanding when to do less.

On the role of restraint

Restraint is often misunderstood as inaction. In practice, it is a form of precision.

Skin requires time to regulate. When too many variables are introduced, it becomes difficult to distinguish response from reaction. Removing excess allows patterns to stabilize and become more predictable.

This is where meaningful change begins.

On barrier function

Barrier function is not a trend. It is the basis of how skin operates.

When the barrier is intact, the skin is able to maintain hydration, regulate inflammation, and respond to environmental stress with greater consistency. When it is compromised, even well-formulated products can become disruptive.

Understanding this shifts the focus from correction to support.

On product use

Products are tools, not solutions.

Their role is to support function—not to override it. Selection is based on compatibility, not popularity or positioning. The same product can behave differently depending on the condition of the skin it is applied to.

Context determines outcome.

On long-term skin health

Long-term skin health is not built through intensity. It is built through consistency.

Skin that is supported in its function becomes more stable, more resilient, and less reactive over time. This reduces the need for continuous adjustment.

The goal is not constant improvement. It is sustained regulation.

Closing perspective

Skin does not require constant intervention. It requires conditions that allow it to function as intended.

When those conditions are met, the role of skincare becomes less about correction and more about maintenance.

Over time, this creates a different trajectory—one defined by stability rather than fluctuation.
